I called to get my refund from Newsweek on Jan. 17, 2013, after they stopped the print edition.

Customer Service indicated that they could not issue the refund due because I did not respond before the print edition ended. So they have sent my print subscription to "An Alternative Print Magazine".... (Cust. Service - didn't know who the "alternative magazine" was - so I have to wait and see what shows up at my doorstep)...

At that point they thought I should be able to cancel with the subscription with this yet unknown alternative magazine. Newsweek could not handle a refund...

for a print magazine they cancelled on me.

Absolute Craziness. Way to go Newsweek.

Monetary Loss: $50.

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Same problem after sending them several letters. No response what-so-ever.

Further I did NOT want them to have and sell my Email address.

Sent a letter to The Attorney General of New York as that is Newsweek's home office. Boy did that get results, although Newsweek is still blaming them problem on someone else.

Same with me, applied for refund when Newsweek went digital, they sent me an email saying I would be refunded after 4-6 weeks but I got nothing. Should we write to FTC ?

I got my Newsweek sub through a third party. Newsweek says I have to go through that company for a refund.

The other company says I have to go through Newsweek.

I just called Newsweek and "Claudia" the "manager" hung up on me. What a bunch of ***.

I have the same issue after sending them two emails and requesting for a refund in early January. Here is their letter to me yesterday 1-29-2013 ... which is amazing how they handle customer's refund money without even asking them for permission ... they have my home address and could easily cut a refund check instead (or send a mail to ask me all the different options I can choose). I think this is awaiting for a class action lawsuit. Any attorneys out there want to fight for our cause ... :)

Due to the absence of an active email address on your account, your subscription was automatically transferred to an alternative publication. Once this transfer has taken place, we are unable to handle the cancellation of your account. In light of this, you may either enjoy your subscription to the alternate magazine or contact them to arrange the cancellation of your subscription once you receive correspondence.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your interest in Newsweek.

Sincerely,
